The United Federation of Planets is the largest government known right now. The Federation was born on earth, then humans achieved space travel. They are now the dominant species in the known systems in the galaxy.
The Federation, while mostly just and good, can show traits of cruelty, but only to those who deserve it. They have a no-tolerance policy regarding crime, and any criminal captured is treated as harshly as possible. Most crimes committed in Federation space are punishable by death.

The Galactic Credit Standard, simply called credit, colloquially referred to as Federation Dataries, is the main currency in use in the galaxy since the founding of the Federation.
From its inception, the credit was backed by the immense wealth of the planet Bakkaan and the InterGalactic Banking Clan (IGBC). One tenth of a credit is called a decicred.
The credit is a physical currency with both coins and bills in circulation. Although they are about the same size, credits sometimes come in different patterns or designs, depending on how much they're worth. Lately, credit chips have become very popular, and now, the credit also comes in the form of small metallic ingots.
